Introduction

The American magazine "Future Science Fiction" had two British reprint editions

• FUT1, pulp size, published by Hermitage publications and distributed by Thorpe & Porter( both of Leicester), 14 issues from November 1951 to June 1954.
• FUT2, digest size, published by Strato publications of London and distributed by Thorpe & Porter, 11 issues from November 1957 to February 1960.

It could be argued that there was another edition before this - GG Swan published a single 1942 issue of Future in the mixed-genre "Swan American" series. That and the other SF magazine published in the series, a 1943 issue of Science Fiction Quarterly, are listed seperately under SWA.

I have not attempted to cross-reference the contents of the UK magazines back to the original, but the covers correspond as below - my information on FUT1 is incomplete and I would be glad if anyone could fill in the gaps and supply the missing scans. The UK magazines do not actually carry dates - the publication dates are those given in SFFWF. SFFWF does index FUT1 (though not FUT2, as far as I can tell). It is clear that not all of the stories in the UK edition were drawn from Future, especially in the later numbers, which drew heavily on "Fantastic Adventures", "Amazing" and other magazines also.

Most of the images in these editions were scanned from copies in my own collection, with the exception of FUT1 #5 and 12, which were kindly provided by Dave Wood; #14, provided by Alistair Durie; and #4, which was offered for sale on eBay.
